I have seen some really nice examples of this around the web and figured that I would give it a try. I started looking for a good tutorial and came across this link over at Brush Thralls.
Their writeup gave a nice overview of the technique and showed me that it can be done on both small and large scales with great results. I am a lot less intimidated by this technique after having read this article.
In my next few posts on this technique I will share some pictures of my attempts as well as what I have learned through my endeavors.
