I decided I wanted a really warped army so I started digging through the bits box for something suitable for a head. When I stumbled across a few spore mines I knew I had hit pay dirt. They were perfect.
To head-ify the spore mines is easy. Just take a jewelers saw and cut right beneath the 'head' where the tentacles start. Then gently round up the ends with a Dremel tool and they will fit right in place.
The best part is that you get two usable pieces out of each mine. You get the head and a mass of tentacles to use however you want. I have used the tentacles for heads, arms, and legs. I am still toying around with having a mass of them bursting out of a chest but haven't got around to it yet.
