I had since lost my old tile so I picked up a new one at Home Depot for about a $1. The one I purchased is solid white with no texture. So far I have been having good luck with it. Below is a picture of it on my painting table.

Tools - My Pallet
Back when I was painting Skeletons for my Fantasy Vampire Counts army I came across something that worked as an excellent pallet - a piece of tile. We had redone our kitchen and had a box of floor tile left over. The tile has a few properties that make it work nice as a palette. It will not absorb water, it will remain cool for quite a while, and it is easy to clean.
